Hot Wings Dip Recipe

Betty the Bunny was having friends over and needed a super-tasty snack that everyone would love! She remembered her Hot Wings Dip and how it's a huge crowd-pleaser. She has perfected this recipe for the past 3 years and everyone loves it! Bunny made a double batch to make sure some would be left over- it's so good! The dip is also super-easy to freeze in individual serving sizes and taste just as good reheated! Fantastic for parties, football games, or just a tasty snack!

The nice thing is that all of these ingredients can be kept around the house, so when you get a sudden craving (as Bunny often does) you have everything already at home!

2  10 Oz cans of chicken (it really is just easier to use canned chicken- frozen takes forever to cook and you don't notice any different in taste.)
1/2 Bag of frozen spinach
1/3 Large bottle of Hidden Valley Ranch (Bonny has tried using off-brand ranches, but none of them make the dip as tasty as Hidden Valley.)
1/2 Onion, chopped (fresh is the best, but frozen works as well and can always be stocked)AND
1/4 Onion, chopped
1 Clove garlic minced (canned garlic is fine)
About 1/3 container of 3 oz of onion powder
3 Tablespoons of hot sauce
3 Teaspoons of liquid smoke
1 Tablespoon of chilli powder (Don't leave out the chilli powder!)
1 Tablespoon black pepper
2 Teaspoons red pepper (This isn't as important and can be left out.)
A little bit of canola oil- don't use olive oil! It ruins the flavor. Butter works as well.
1 Packet cream cheese

Important! Make to taste! Bunny never actually measures- this was the first time she did so so she could share the recipe with you. :) Tastetastetaste the dip as you add the seasonings.

THE SECRET: The secret to this recipe is the onion. It really makes all the difference- it looks like a lot of onion, and it is- the onion brings out the flavor- the more onion powder/onion the better.

Remember, Bunny made a double batch, so there's more of everything in the photos than you'll need.

Put thin layer of canola oil in the bottom of a large pot with 1/2 of an onion and 1 clove of garlic. Cook on high until dark brown- slightly burnt on the edges is even better- it adds a delightful crunch and a deeper, smoky flavor.

Turn stove to medium or medium-low. Add ranch- do not add cream cheese first! It curdles! Stir until blended. Add 1/2 bag of frozen spinach and cream cheese.

Drain water from canned chicken in bowl. You can use this for other things: to help flavor soup, risotto, fried rice, or feed to pets- they love it, or water plants with it- they love it too. :)

Add chicken and all the other ingredients. Continue stirring and keeping on heat until everything is blended. Turn off heat and add uncooked 1/4 chopped onion.

You'll want it to be about this color: It should be super spicy!

To make it even better- spread in a pan and broil in the oven- this slightly crisps the top and makes it amazing.

You can also add corn to make the dip have more vegetables- it doesn't affect the flavor and makes it a little more healthy.

Milk is the best thing to have with the dip- it helps cool down the heat and the flavors of the milk and dip compliment amazingly.

Hot Wings Dip is also great for making Fried Hot Wings Delights! Yum!
